Welcome to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church
- We are a Historic Church, with an Ancient Creed, for a Modern Age.
- We are a Safe Haven of Hospitality, Hope, and Healing.
- We Welcome Everyone - babies, children, teens and adults - Wherever you are on your Spiritual Journey.
- We worship in a beautiful sanctuary built in 1883 surrounded by stained glass windows, signs and symbols of the Christian faith, the smell of wood, fresh flowers and candles and filled with 130+ years of prayers.
- We use the ancient liturgy of the Church: singing the Gloria and Kyrie, reading Scripture, chanting the Psalms, with Sermon, Prayers, Holy Communion, and a Blessing. Then we are sent back into the World to love and serve the Lord.
- We sing traditional Hymns of the Church, Taize Chants, the Psalms, English Cathedral Music and Contemporary Songs.
- We are a Sacramental Community grounded in Holy Baptism, Holy Scripture, Holy Eucharist and rooted in the Anglican tradition.
- We are Christo-centric and Liturgical - centering and celebrating our life together in Jesus, the Christ; through the Liturgical Seasons of the Church Year, Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, Pentecost and Ordinary Time.
- We are part of the Episcopal Church USA, the Episcopal Diocese of the Western Michigan, and the Worldwide Anglican Communion.
- We come from a Variety of Religious Traditions: both Protestant and Catholic, cradle Episcopal, as well as the unChurched and searching.
- We have four orders of ministry in the Episcopal Church: Laity, Deacons, Priests and Bishops, all serving Christ together as One Body.
- We serve the community through “VERA’S HOUSE”, our Community Health, Education and Wellness Center
- We love worship, silence, contemplation and spiritual education, as well as, laughter, coffee hour, noisy conversations and a community pig roast
