The Daughters of the King is an international Order for laywomen and clergywomen of the Episcopal Church, and other churches with an historic Episcopate (ELCA, Roman Catholic and Orthodox Churches), which was founded in 1885. Every Daughter pledges herself to a life-long Rule of Life, which encompasses prayer, service, evangelism and the strengthening of the spiritual life of her Parish. Each Daughter also has a special call to reach out to the young girls and women of their Parish and always wears the special cross of the Order. To become a Daughter, there is a formation program of study, prayer, service and worship, which one would participate in with other Daughters. If you are interested in becoming a Daughter of the King, please speak to our Rector. The name of our Chapter of the Daughters of the King at St. Mark’s, Newaygo, is the Chapter of St. Lydia.
Motto of the Daughters of the King
For HIS SAKE I am but one; but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. What I can do, I ought to do. What I ought to do, by the grace of God, I will do. Lord, what will you have me do?
